The CIX VFR Club Online Models System developed by James Mindham enables Club members to see each other in the correct aircraft, with the correct livery, when connected to VATSIM, instead of the default aircraft which Squawkbox or FSinn displays. The system is described in these pages, and the necessary software is provided for members to make their own low-resolution models. Low resolution models will allow the correct aircraft to be seen without the overhead and frame rate hit which can occur when the full FS9/FSX model dataset is transmitted over the internet in a multiplayer environment.
Online Model Options
There are several options available, depending on which VATSIM Pilot Client you use. Install for Squawkbox only or both Squawkbox and FSInn using ModelMaker
Use ModelMaker to install the VUK, CIX and CXD model sets and create my own model set.
Install manually for Squawkbox only or both Squawkbox and FSInn
Install for FSInn only
ModelMaker version 2 is current. This version is for those using Squawkbox or both Squawkbox and FSInn. ModelMaker is not really necessary for FSInn only users so a straightforward installation of the VUK and CXD model sets is available.
If you have used ModelMaker version 1 or files generated by ModelMaker version 1 for use only with FSInn, you will need to delete the VUK, CIX and CXD folders from your Aircraft (FS9) or SimObjects/Airplanes (FSX) folder and use the new FSInn Installation process.
CXD FSInn sound set available
A 2-4-CIX (CXD) for FSInn sound set is now available. Extract this FSInnCXDSoundSet.zip file into your Aircraft or SimObjects/Airplanes folder and merge the folders assuming you already have the various CXD folders. In theory, you should now hear correct AI sounds for the various models.
