| The Annual Sywell Virtual Air Show | |
| For the past 2 years the club has taken part in an event which is now to be held for a third year, which classifies it, one supposes, as an "Annual Event". This is the Sywell Airshow, organised, nay, masterminded by the indefatigable Bill Casey. It is of course a "virtual" airshow in that the whole event takes place using Microsoft Flight Simulator. The Cix VFR Club was lucky - honoured even - to be the opening event at Sywell 2005, and held that covetted position for the 2006 & 2007 seasons and we will be opening the show again this year. | |
| At Sywell, teams of flyers perform various flypasts and manouevres watched by "a crowd of thousands". All the aircraft can see each other, though multiplayer connections into the VATSIM servers and the crowd of thousands comprises as many aircraft on the ground as the servers can cope with. The aircraft on the ground can see the action through the multiplayer system in the same whay that that the participants see each other (and if they have time to look, they can see all the spectator aircraft on the ground too.) | |
| During our preparations of the third Sywell Airshow in 2007 was born the idea of having a dedicated display team within the club. The now almost famous (within VATSIM UK anyway) 2-4-Cix name was dreamed up by one of our display pilots, Pete Chapman. | |

| Pushing the Boundaries | |
| The 2-4-Cix section of the Club is expanding and working up new routines for Sywell and other events. We think we have now mastered formation flying and are beginning to branch out into more complex aerobatics. | The aircraft popularly chosen by the team is the deHavilland Chipmunk, a delightful, vintage aircraft with "character" and great manouvrability. The 2-4-Cix team has its own unique livery. |

Training |
| Having had a good response of members wishing to take part this year, we now have to knuckle down to... Training. | |
| Briefing | |
| Briefings will take place in the 2-4-Cix section of the Forum, but reports of progress in 2008 and matters of general interest will be published on the 2-4-Cix 2008 web page. | |
| There are two types of pilot: The Dehavs, and the DeHav-nots. We are definitely DeHavs! |
