Local Attractions Runcorn Bridge Liverpool is a city with two Cathedrals. The Anglican Cathedral is situated a short walk from the heart of the City Centre. From the air, due to all the other large buildings, it is definitely a tricky one to spot! The Roman Catholic Cathedral is affectionately known as Paddy's Wigwam, due partly to it's mainly Irish congregation, and it's shape.
Next we have the radio tower, this being "Radio City 96.7", It is a very tall quite anorexic building with a rather large round top to it. It can't be missed, the flourescent "RADIO CITY 96.7" sign gives it away. There are tonnes of local attractions for example, the World Museum, Walker Art Gallery and the Albert Docks that used to home the famous "Yellow Submarine", which, doesn't actually look like a submarine, more like a duck! That is now located on the roundabout as you approach Liverpool John Lennon Airport. Last but not least, a thing you can definately not miss from the air... Runcorn Bridge formally known as the Silver Jubilee Bridge. It was built in 1961 as a link between Runcorn and Widnes. The A553 Crosses the bridge and is always congested at peak times, especially with the ongoing roadworks, but, from 1000ft, its a beautiful sight!
Local Events Fireworks at Liverpool As far as Air Shows go, Liverpool doesnt directly have an Air Show, but, just to the north of Liverpool, every year, Southport holds its annual airshow and model aircraft airshow. It is a fantastic day for all of the family, free entry (unless you're going by car, then you have to pay for the parking). Music is mainly Liverpools theme, with Sir Paul McCartney the centre of attention, so music events throughout the year are ongoing. Every year on bonfire night, Liverpool has a festival at the Albert Docks and also at the main Port, on this day, there is a BBQ, Music, Dancing etc, and on the night, there is an amazing firework display.
