Briefing 15th November 2019
Overview The 2019 Event will be a live Airshow at our Gloucestershire base by our 2-4-CIX Display teams, using JoinFS. This briefing is principally for spectators who may gather at Gloucestershire or fly in from a nearby airfield of their choice before the start of the display.
Start Time and Place

This event will take place on Friday 15th November at Gloucestershire Airport EGBJ.
Spectators and pilots flying in for the show congregate at Gloucestershire before 19:45UTC for the first display at 20:00UTC.

Pre-event Preparation In the days before the event you’ll need to do some preparation:
  1. Make sure you have JoinFS installed and know how to use it.
  2. Obtain the Club's JoinFS Address from the Forum and bookmark it in JoinFS as "CIX Hub".
  3. Join a 2-4-CIX practice session for one of the teams if you want to test your connection.
  4. Go to This Page and download the following aircraft:
    1. Spectator and chair (for spectators)
    2. Tigers display aircraft (install smoke files as instructed in the download)
    3. CHIPS display aircraft (install smoke files as instructed in the download)
    4. 2-4-CIX SPIT
    5. 2-4-CIX HURI
    6. 2-4-CIX LANC
Weather Use the JoinFS facility to take the weather from Peter Memmott.
Peter will set the weather to nil wind and clear skies.
(In JoinFS, select View - Aircraft - click on Peter's entry on the list, then click on the "copy weather" button.)

Spawning, positioning, and connecting to JoinFS

Before the Display night.

Before the display night: -
  1. Ensure you have downloaded and installed the club set of display aircraft as above.
  2. Spawn off-line at Gloucestershire EGBJ.
  3. Taxi to a position on the apron area in front of the Control Tower facinf runway 09/27.
  4. Once there switch off the engine, then change your "aircraft" to the "Spectator's Chair" to get the best all-round visability.
  5. "Save" this flight. (Call it something obvious like "Display".)
  6. Load JoinFS - this will tell you if your copy needs updating.
  7. Within "JoinFS" perform a "Scan for Models" to ensure that you will see the correct aircraft and liveries.
  8. Ensure you can connect to the "CIX Hub" in JoinFS- Any difficulties PM Max Symons and/or Peter Memmott as a matter of urgency!!!!
  9. Close down and wait for the night of the display.

On the Display night

  1. In your sim, load the flight saved at 5 above.
  2. Connect to the Club TeamSpeak.
  3. Start JoinFS and connect to the "CIX Hub" (Aim to do this by 19:45UTC at the latest.)
  4. Sit back and enjoy the display.

Pilots Flying in:

Connecting to JoinFS, landing and parking

On the Display night

  1. Before departure, connect to the Club TeamSpeak; start JoinFS and connect to the "CIX Hub".
  2. Fly in from a nearby airfield of your choice, such as Shobdon, Wolverhampton, Bristol, Cardiff or Kemble.
  3. Park at the 22 end of grass Runway 04/22 facing north. Be in position, engines shut down by 19:45UTC at the latest.)
  4. Sit back and enjoy the display.
  5. Optionally, after the display, depart Gloucestershire, or taxi to the apron as desired, and in accordance with ATC instructions.
PIREP

Spectators can collect the "Display Star" by completing a PIREP and entering "DISP" in the Departure and Arrival boxes of the Form.

Members flying in can collect the "Club Base" star by completing a PIREP in the normal way. They can also collect the Display Star as described above.

Display Sequence (So you know where to look)

Before 19:00 Pilots flying in using JoinFS and the CIX Hub as above, take off from your chosen airfield, but ensure you arrive at Gloucestershire and are parked on runway 22 grass by 19:45UTC.

19:45 - Spectators congregate connected to TeamSpeak, and running JoinFS connected to the "CIX Hub"

20:00 vBBMF (Lancaster, Spitfire and Hurricane) opens the display with two passes along the 09/27 tarmac runway. Duration approximately 5 minutes.

20:10 or 20:15 - Alternate display segments by the CIX Chipmunks and the CIX TIGERS (Tiger Moths). Duration aproximately 20 minutes.

20:30 or 20:35 - Display finale and TIGERs land (approx 5 mins).

Teamspeak Discipline

Please feel free to chat in the members bar.
Spectators are welcome in the dedicated team rooms but please remain silent.
A Display Director or Team Leader will use the phrase “break, break” to indicate they have something to say. Please stop chat at that time.
