Briefing 16th July 2018
Overview This sunny summer we start at Shoreham by the sea and launch skywards searching for Lewes, Tunbridge Wells, Dorking and Littlehamption and via MAY and OCK VORS in a grand anticlockwise circle round (or perhaps through) busy Gatwick's airspace.  You must perform a Touch-and-Go at Dunsfold and Goodwood, and a standard overhead join on arrival at Shoreham
Start Time and Place This event is scheduled for Monday July 16th 2018, starting at 7pm British Summer Time – 18:00 UTC at Shoreham EGKA. The event is to be flown on VATSIM.
Flight Planning A plan-G flightplan can be downloaded for this flight here.
Relevant airfield documentation can be found on the CIX VFR Club 'Airfield Data Sheets' page or the 'NATS' website.
Weather Before starting we will check the weather. If it isn't suitable for our flight, we can of course change it in the sim, but please use VATSIM weather if at all possible for greater realism, and a more interesting challenge.
ATC At the time of publishing this event, ATC has not been confirmed. However, it is probable that there will be ATC provided for departure and arrival and for Gatwick.
What Aircraft can I fly? Any aircraft within the EASA Light Aircraft category can be flown in this event.
Radio Discipline Take care not to let our Teamspeak chat cut across ATC. Stop any conversation immediately the R/T comes alive, then continue if "he wasn't talking to us". This is difficult because when transmitting on Teamspeak you can't hear the R/T. So be brief on Teamspeak, and be aware that ATC might be trying to get through. If anyone hears an R/T message which seems to be being ignored, just say "ATC is calling G-CIXN" if you have identified the callsign, or "ATC is calling us" which is a cue for everyone to be quiet on Teamspeak until ATC call again (which they will). Remember too that if asked to "Stand By" by ATC, you do not reply - not even "Roger", but simply wait until you are called again.
Remember also that there may be several different ATC frequencies in use, and you may not be able to hear when communications are taking place. Make sure you have set and know how to use a Teamspeak mute switch.
