| Briefing | November 2025 |
| Overview |
It's time again for the Annual 2-4-CIX Display! |
| Scenario |
Fire up your engines and fly into Coventry (EGBE) anytime up until the 18th November then sit back, relax and enjoy the show! A forum post will be made, where the YouTube link will be uploaded on the day. Join us on TeamSpeak from 1830z! |
| Start Time and Place |
The fly-in element takes place from the start of November up until the evening of Tuesday 18th, when the display itself will then kick off at 2000z (8pm UK time). |
| Flight Planning |
Those flying into Coventry should plan their flight, accordingly, taking into account any airspace and terrain nearby. |
| What Aircraft can I fly |
You may use any aircraft (including helicopters) classified as GA (within the EASA "light" category), see club rules for details. |
| Weather or not? |
Before starting, check the weather. In accordance with VATSIM rules the wind direction should be the same as real-world. This event is strictly VFR, so all other aspects of the weather should be adjusted to avoid the disappointment of being rained or fogged in. |
| Airmanship | Always ANC (Aviate, Navigate, Communicate). Remember, there may be non CIX VFR traffic in the area as well as club members and that the event should be fun for everyone - pilots and controllers. br> If your enjoyment is impaired by "unsportsmanlike" ATC, let someone know so senior club members can pass on your concerns. Similarly, if you get something wrong, such as entering controlled airspace without authority, learn from the experience and follow instructions - even if requested to 'Disconnect'. br> If you do have problems, don't be afraid to ask. Club members are always happy to help, and ATC would much rather you asked than stumbled on causing mayhem. |
| ATC |
Be prepared and expect ATC to be active over / around the coverage area. There is a likelihood of Coventry Radio being manned from 1830z on the evening of the 18th up until 1945z |
| Radio Discipline |
Take care not to let our TeamSpeak Chat cut across ATC. Stop any conversation immediately the R/T comes alive and then continue if "he wasn't talking to us".
If anyone hears R/T which appears to be ignored and it is a club member being called, on TeamSpeak, say "ATC is calling XXXX/one of us". Then everyone stop talking
until ATC calls again and makes contact. Remember that if ATC tells you "standby" It means "wait, don't call me, I will come back to you as soon as I can."
|
| Club Star Award |
1 Star will be awarded for flying into EGBE at any time between 1st and 18th November. |
